Making socially engaged media work is the most effective way to document what's important around our communities and our society. The process of the collaboration between the members of a community or of an organization and the filmmaker is as important as the visual outcomes.
It's a conversation, the building of a relationship where at the end of the process the members of a specific community can recognize themselves, can actually claim ownership of their portrait.
